Pangea is a platform based in Copenhagen which is targeted at lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans*, intersex, queers and asexual (LGBTIQA) persons. Pangea is a sociopolitical group created by expats which main aim is connecting expats living in Copenhagen (the Ă–resund) either for a short period or for good.
Pangea was created in May 2008 as network but in January 2012 it became constituted as independent organisation.
In Pangea there are represented more than 50 nationalities and through our activities you can meet new friends, create social and political events and express and share your diversity. In Pangea we try to make a welcoming, engaging and supportive space where differences are not only tolerated, but respected, celebrated, defended and supported.
Pangea is the only organisation of its kind in the whole world. Some of the things that characterise Pangea are the following:
In Pangea we endorse the approach DIY/DIT (Do It Yourself/Do It Together), which means that everything depends on the individual/collective iniciatives of its members. Everybody has the right and opportunity to organise activities in Pangea, just do it!
In Pangea you are considered part of the Pangean spirit already the first time you show up to one of our meetings or right after you write a presentation of yourself to our mailing list. No matter whether you are new in Pangea or a veteran you have the same voice, rights and decision power as anybody else!
We welcome heartly everybody in Pangea; however Pangea is an space free of LGBTIQA-phobia, Racism and Xenophobia.
All the members of Pangea are considered as equals, but we also understand that some identity groups have more room than others. This means that in Pangea we promote the activities of underepresented groups and we encourage everybody to share their ideas and suggestions so Pangea can become more inclusive and welcoming towards all its targeted groups.
